Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) is not ruling out a 2020 presidential run.
In an interview on MSNBC that aired on Sunday night on Kasie DC, Harris made it clear that right now at least she is focused on the midterms.
She is not ruling out a 2020 bid, however.
“I’m focused on a lot of other things as a higher priority” than running for president, she said, when asked the question.
Then when asked directly if she was ruling it out, she answered: “I don’t know, I don’t know…I’m not ruling it out, no.”
Harris, the daughter of immigrants, has long been seen as a rising star among Democrats and there has been much speculation about a possible run.
She has also emerged as a critic of the migrant policies and has called on a reexamination of the role of ICE.
“I think there’s no question that we’ve got to critically reexamine ICE and its role and the way that it is being administered and the work it is doing,” Harris told host Kasie Hunt in the same interview. “And we need to probably think about starting from scratch.”
Hunt also tweeted out the news of Harris’ possible run on Twitter Sunday night.
